Folk songs have always been a source of inspiration for composers throughout history, who turned these songs into self-standing instrumental pieces. This program is dedicated to various instrumental versions of folk songs of the renaissance, and at its center is the French folk song "Une Jeune Fillette", which tells the story of a young girl sent by her parents to a convent against her will. This song became popular throughout Europe in the 16th century and was arranged in countless versions by various composers up until the 18th century. The program includes music by Salomone Rossi, Biaggio Marini, Marco Uccellini, Diego Ortiz and others.
